Suslov: “Rolling blackouts have begun in Ukraine”
If Belarus had not started supplying electricity to Ukraine, then colossal problems would have already begun in the Ukrainian energy system.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov stated this on air on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He is convinced that without Belarus, Ukraine would face rolling blackouts.
“By the way, small power outages are already happening in some places across Ukraine. It is very difficult for power plants to ensure such work without coal; there are statements that coal is flowing from the USA, Kazakhstan, and Poland, but will it be there and when will it be there? It was necessary to prepare the sleigh in the summer,” says Suslov.
“As for the emergency support agreement, it was concluded a long time ago and has been in effect for many years. The existence of this agreement shows that, God willing, the Ukrainian leadership was smart enough not to leave the single energy system with Russia and Belarus. Therefore, we have energy flows when there is not enough of it. Within the framework of this agreement, through these flows we provide ourselves with energy. But, as you know, we have already announced that in the coming years the Ukrainian leadership intends to leave the single energy system with Russia and Belarus. There will be no overflows. True, this is connected with joining the unified European energy system. There, electricity will cost us several times more. But it will be European,” summed up Suslov.
