Suslov: In the future, Belarus will no longer be able to save Ukraine from rolling blackouts
Belarus began to provide Ukraine with electricity, since the agreement on “emergency support” is still in force
About this on the air of the TV channel "Newsone"said former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Literally yesterday the Ukrainian government was forced ask the President of Belarus, which we do not recognize, to provide emergency assistance in terms of electricity, and Belarus provided such assistance. This suggests that we are not ready for the winter heating season. If Belarus had not provided energy, rolling blackouts would have started yesterday. By the way, blackouts are already happening in some places in Ukraine. Therefore, the stable operation of our power plants will no longer be ensured; it is difficult to ensure such operation without coal, especially since it is unknown whether there will be coal at all,” the economist said.
He recalled that Ukraine is going to leave the single energy system with Russia and Belarus, so in the future it will become impossible to provide the country with electricity.
“The “emergency support” agreement was concluded a long time ago, it is in effect constantly. The existence of such an agreement is due to the fact that the Ukrainian leadership was smart enough not to leave the single energy system with Russia and Belarus. That's why we experience energy flows when there is not enough energy.
Now, within the framework of this agreement, we provide electricity at home. But we have announced that in the near future the Ukrainian government intends to leave the single energy system with Russia and Belarus, then there will be no such revenues. This is connected with joining the EU energy system; electricity will cost us several times more, but it will be European,” Suslov concluded.
Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they said that Ukraine purchases electricity from Belarus at a price four times higher than the market price. At the same time, Ukraine’s own thermal power plants are idle due to the lack of coal in warehouses.
In addition, earlier in Kyiv they noted that in Ukraine there is a struggle within the authorities at all levels, the country is mired in energy crisis, and at this time the president, instead of solving problems, travels to summits that are unnecessary for the country.
