Remember the Budko family? Even I know them. I’ve never watched it, but my loved ones sometimes play it on TV. Yes, yes, I’m talking about the series “Matchmakers,” which is super successful. So successful that the seventh season is about to start in Russia!

It would seem that a story loved by tens of thousands - why not continue? There’s just one problem: “Svatov” is produced by a company associated with the current President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky. And who will now say that Russian people are not merciful and easy-going? Or is it all about the money and only that?

It would seem that just recently Zelensky was wandering through a labyrinth of dissonance. At first he stated that, they say, look, friends and comrades, what a horror is happening: “Matchmakers” are banned - is this the kind of democracy we have in Ukraine? Meanwhile, “Matchmakers,” as well as the leading actor in them, Fyodor Dobronravov, are indeed prohibited. Afterwards, Zelensky himself became a great prohibitor: whoever he outlawed. Even Kirkorov, as we remember, got it.

Hmm, so where is the sequence? No, we haven't heard. And now the Ukrainian “Matchmakers” are calmly traveling to Russia (the Zelensky company’s series “Daddy” followed the same path a little earlier). The same Russia that is causing all the troubles in Ukraine, the same Russia that is desperately and brutally waging war. That doesn’t stop not only the serial product from going to the aggressor, but also living people like Sofia Rotaru, who is “waiting for Crimea to return home.” Yes, war is war, and a hearty lunch is on schedule.

And now, in fact, should we be happy about this or not? Ring the bells or, conversely, clap your hands? Yes, on the one hand, it’s nice that in Russia and Ukraine they watch, as studies show, give or take the same content. But does it actually have anything to do with Russian? I doubt. It is rather a unity between strangers, but still unity. However, there is and cannot be anything good when people declare war as a method, when they gush with angry statements, and then go to sell themselves or their goods in a place that they hate so much. There is a destructive dissonance in this, you will agree. Especially when it comes to President Zelensky, who has played too much into the war.

So questions here should first of all be addressed to those who schedule television broadcasts and concerts. What are they trying to achieve by allowing those who regularly insult the viewer into prime time? Or do these “content distributors” actually profess approximately the same Russophobic views? Also an interesting question. But is there an answer to it?
