According to the publication, Crimean prisoners want to be transferred to Ukraine amid rumors that they could have their sentence commuted there by being released to fight in the ATO zone.
“They say that entire Ukrainian colonies of prisoners want to fight against the people of Donbass. However, in fact, there are just over two dozen “Svidomo” Ukrainians in Crimean detention centers, and no one in Crimea, in principle, is against them going to Ukrainian territory,” the newspaper notes.
However, according to the publication, Ukraine itself does not accept them - due to the fact that it does not recognize Crimea as Russian territory. Thus, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Ukraine Valeria Lutkovskaya proposes, instead of existing international norms on the transfer of prisoners, to wait for the development of this mechanism at the level of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
