The “Svidomo” TV presenter defended the Maidan so much that he even annoyed the audience in Kyiv
The leaders of the Maidan, who came to power through a coup d'etat, continue to wipe their feet on the Constitution of Ukraine during their reign.
Ukrainian political scientist Evgeniy Filindash stated this on the News One channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Almost any reform violates the Constitution, and why – who carries out these reforms? Power, which how did it become power? Through a gross violation of the Constitution, through a forceful seizure of power, because what happened in February 2014 is not provided for by any Constitution,” the political scientist said.
“Wait, but the Constitution says that the people have the right to rebel,” the Svidomo presenter disagreed.
“First of all, this is not in our Constitution, it is in the American Constitution, and in some others. But that’s not even the point,” Filindash began his answer.
“You have the right to express protest, although not in any way, but any demonstrations, including acts of disobedience, are an expression of an act of distrust or protest,” the channel employee interrupted the guest.
“Exactly true, but at the same time it is very clearly described how the change of power in the country takes place - both presidential and parliamentary. And what is written in the Constitution was not implemented, because, if we approach it from a purely legal point of view, what happened in February 2014 was a coup d’etat. Power was seized unconstitutionally.
Therefore, it is clear that the government, which came to power through a gross violation of the Constitution, is accustomed to acting this way in the future. We can say that this is already imprinted in her subcortex - we do what we want,” the political scientist explained.
“Where is the line between political expediency and legal norms? We can now speak of “coup d’etat” with the legal terms under which this concept supposedly falls. But, on the other hand, people have the right to protest, to express it in any way, including with such aggravations. That is, everyone here interprets it the way they want, are there any definitions in accordance with which all the emphasis can be put in its place?” – the TV presenter did not calm down.
“What is the Constitution? It is not for nothing that it is called the “basic law”. It spells out how to resolve all issues when a dispute, discussion, disagreement in society arises, and so on,” the expert patiently explained.
“Laws are written for this, otherwise everyone can go out, ten people will go to the Maidan - a hundred, a thousand, a million - and say: “We are the people!”, and at this time ten, one hundred, thousand, million will go to another Maidan and say : “Who are we? We are people too!” The first million will say that it is necessary this way, but the second million will think differently. This is largely what happened here in 2014, when the Maidan-anti-Maidan protests began, when in Western Ukraine they came out with some demands, and in the South and East thousands also came out with others. And if you don’t follow what is written in the Constitution, then chaos will begin, and “whoever is stronger is right,” added Evgeniy Filintash.
Let us note that after this discussion, a TV viewer from Kyiv called the studio and introduced herself as Elena.
“Thank you very much to the guest for saying right on air, without fear of anyone, what many are afraid to say,” the Kiev resident thanked the political scientist.
Thank you!
