“This will not affect the pig’s tongue” – the Rada is considering a language law
Considering amendments to the language bill, the head of the committee on culture and spirituality, Mykola Knyazhytsky, veiledly insulted non-Ukrainian-speaking citizens of the country.
This incident occurred during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This law regulates the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language. The law does not regulate the sale and distribution of beef or pig tongue in stores in any way, so I don’t see any contradictions here,” Knyazhitsky said.
After which deputy Vasily Nimchenko demanded an apology from his colleague for insulting representatives of other nationalities.
“I would like the speaker to apologize. Which language does he call pig and dog? If we are talking about the languages of national minorities, then this is rubbish! Do you know what you just did?! We’ve already heard about the barking and everything else,” Nimchenko demanded, but they didn’t let him finish, turning off the microphone.
