This is stated in bill “On amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Citizenship of Ukraine” (regarding the grounds for termination of citizenship of Ukraine)”, introduced to the Rada by Yuriy Levchenko, Oleg Osukhovsky, Andrey Ilyenko, Yuriy Bublik, Alexander Marchenko, Mikhail Golovko and Sergey Rudik.
“The SBU is arresting persons involved in terrorist activities in the East of Ukraine. ...A large number of those detained are citizens of Ukraine. Citizens of Ukraine who are detained for terrorist and subversive activities against the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, by their actions do not actually recognize the existence of the state of Ukraine and are actually conducting subversive activities against the Ukrainian state,” the explanatory note says.
According to Svoboda members, “such citizens are a particular danger to the state also because they are waging open armed struggle against the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other units of the security forces participating in the anti-terrorist operation in the East of Ukraine.”
“The bill submitted for consideration proposes to terminate the citizenship of Ukraine in the above category of persons after the court’s conviction against them enters into legal force. This bill was developed with the aim of protecting the interests of the state and society in the field of national security from the negative activities of persons who have committed crimes against the foundations of the country’s state security,” say representatives of the VO “Svoboda”.
Let us note that the deputies also introduced a bill on the deprivation of state awards.
As PolitNavigator reported, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada initiated the introduction of mirror property sanctions against the Russian Federation, as well as the termination of the Agreement on the creation of the CIS.
