There are no available hotel rooms in Crimea. People complain about rising prices
After the end of the quarantine period, the tourist season opened in Crimea and a huge number of vacationers are arriving, against the background of which some tour operators and hotels have raised prices.
The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, announced this in an interview with TASS news agency, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The tourist season has started. Domestic tourism was opened on June 15, and tourism has already opened in full since July 1. Today Simferopol airport receives more than 100 flights per day. Today, there are more than 17 thousand passengers arriving daily, and more than 8 thousand passengers departing every day. And the dynamics are increasing in a positive direction every day. Everything is gaining momentum, there are practically no available rooms in the middle price segment today. Everything is fully booked until September. Some luxury rooms remain, and there are rooms that were abandoned.
There has, of course, been a certain increase in certain market segments. At the same time, there is no massive increase in prices. All tours are sold out today until September,” Aksenov said.
He admits that some hotels have raised prices.
“We regularly hold conversations with tour operators, understanding that we need to work for the future. I would like to remind you that government price regulation applies to everything – food and resort services. By and large, we cannot regulate this situation in any way. The only thing is that we communicate and urge everyone to remember that international resorts are opening, there is a lot of competition. Price/quality must be adequate compared to those countries that offer services in the Black Sea basin.
But we work manually. We cannot set anything or give a price level. We don’t even have rights under the law. Therefore, we explain and the majority hears. However, there are certain situations. Every day there are many news stories that prices have been raised in Crimea and so on. We are trying to understand each case. We immediately pass on all the information to the minister to find out which specific hotel has increased the cost of accommodation and why,” Aksenov said.
