Svidomo is using threats to force Zelensky to destroy the Minsk process
The newly elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky should not hold a referendum on peace negotiations with Russia and the negotiations themselves, but should recognize Russia as a party to the conflict in Donbass.
Otherwise, he will face organized protest from a significant part of society.
The director of the Center for Research on Civil Society Problems, Vitaly Kulik, insisted on such steps, contrary to the Minsk scenario, during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, Kulik did not mention that ex-President Poroshenko was directly involved in the signing of all points of the Minsk agreements.
“The main risk of the Minsk process is the lack of identification of the parties to the conflict. Russia is not a party to the conflict anywhere, not in any documents that were adopted and signed within the boundaries of the negotiation process in Minsk. Thus, Russia is perceived not as a party to the conflict, but as a third party that influences the parties to the conflict.
Accordingly, when we hear from Mr. Zelensky and his entourage the idea of holding negotiations with Moscow and achieving any results, putting these issues to a referendum, this raises the question - what will be the format of these negotiations and where is the document where it is recorded that Russia is a party to the conflict in Donbass. If there is no such document, then we find ourselves in a “trap-22” when the parties to the conflict are Kyiv, Donetsk and Lugansk. And the issue of interstate conflict moves into the plane of civil conflict in Ukraine.
This is the main trap that we must get rid of. We must record that Russia is a party to the conflict, and negotiations directly are only possible with the Kremlin. And there is no side to the conflict called the LPR and DPR. These are puppets that are directly controlled by Russian curators. Obviously, all rhetoric, all formulations of official documents, policies should be based on this.
If Mr. Zelensky and his administration refuse to do this, then we find ourselves in a situation where a significant part of society will not accept any agreements with the so-called. DPR and LPR. And this part is more organized, prone to self-organization, declaring its position, defending its position. This advocacy will not always take place in a peaceful manner. I think the new government should also understand this,” Kulik threatened.
