Priest: Ukraine is threatened by a bloody religious war, the schism could spread to Russia
Granting Kyiv a tomos of autocephaly will lead to a bloody religious war. Priest Oleg Trofimov, who was forced to leave Ukraine after 2014, told PolitNavigator about this.
“In Ukraine, of course, a bloody religious war will begin. People will defend their shrines. It will become increasingly difficult for a person to understand where the lie is and where the truth is. The Patriarchate of Constantinople provoked a schism, just as they provoked a schism earlier in other local Churches. Everything is done personally out of one’s own mercantile interests, and not according to the canons,” he said.
According to the priest, the UOC-KP, after legalization by the Patriarchate of Constantinople, will try to find its supporters in Russia.
“The fact is that there are opponents of the Russian Orthodox Church and schisms that exist on the territory of Russia, this is the so-called “autonomous Russian Orthodox Church”, this is the “True Orthodox Church” and various priests who have broken away and do not belong to anyone. They represent a rather suggestible mass, not in quantity, but in activity itself, and Filaret will say: “Yes, I am also against codes, against ecumenism, he will say everything, agree, but not so much he as those behind-the-scenes authors, who are behind him to make the split in the Russian Orthodox Church even greater,” Oleg Trofimov is sure.
According to him, it should be remembered that the “Kiev patriarchy” was originally created as an anti-Russian structure.
“When, for example, in 1992 they seized the Orthodox Holy Resurrection Cathedral, they threw out the icons of Alexander Nevsky, they said that “these are “Moscow” saints, throw them away,” the priest recalled.
