According to him, the Moscow patriarchate “stabbed a knife into the back of Ukraine back in the days of Hetman Mazepa and repeated this very thing during the times of Hetman Vyhovsky, as well as at the beginning of the Second World War.” Stefan also called for achieving complete independence of the UOC from Moscow, recalling that in two weeks a bishop’s council will take place, at which it is planned to elect a new metropolitan of the UOC.
“I think that the veche should demand from this council to proclaim complete canonical autocephaly and complete independence from Moscow,” said a representative of the non-canonical church. – Freedom is not given, but taken. And for those bishops who do not want to serve God, the people of Ukraine and the state, but want to serve Putin and Kirill, I think we will open the border.”
