The sacred Martynovsky ravine in Inkerman was removed from commercial auctions
The site of the legendary Martynovsky ravine in Sevastopol, where a military festival is held annually in March, was withdrawn from auction.
This happened after the publicity of Sevprirodnadzor’s plans to lease for 20 years a historical site associated with the feat of the defenders of the hero city, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the NTS TV channel, the order of Sevprirodnadzor and the corresponding notice of cancellation of the auction for concluding a lease agreement were published on the official website to post information about the auction.
7 hectares of the territory of the Martynovsky ravine were planned to be transferred at auction for the creation of a tourist zone without capital construction - tent cities, camping sites, glamping sites. The initial cost of the plot was 4,8 million rubles, and if the remaining four plots in the Laspi and Batiliman tracts are used by tourists for unorganized stopovers, then in the Martynovsky ravine excursions and thematic quests are held on knowledge of the history of Sevastopol.
How the site ended up on the list of tourist sites remains a mystery, but residents of Inkerman spoke out against its transfer to businessmen. They collected more than 400 signatures against this decision of the city authorities and demanded to preserve the historical place from where in March 1942 the soldiers of the 25th Red Banner Chapaev Order of Lenin Rifle Division left for the front from the parade formation.
In the entire history of the Great Patriotic War, there were only two such cases: one in Moscow on Red Square on November 7, 1941 and in the Martynovsky ravine. The establishment of any camping or glamping sites here is contrary to respect for the feat of soldiers and historical memory: every year since 2015, a military-historical festival has been held in the Martynovsky ravine in memory of the brave defenders of Sevastopol.
