The author informs that recently in Kyiv, in front of the SBU building, a sculptural composition was pompously opened in honor of ATO fighters, representing a map of Ukraine, in which a Cossack on horseback pokes a spear into the mouth of an enemy dragon wearing an imperial crown.
The editor-in-chief of Platfor.ma believes that these people deserve a monument, but not in the form in which it appeared under the SBU.
“But why is all that official culture can manage to produce is a hackneyed plot with a horseman and a dragon? – Marchenko is surprised. – Which, by the way, resembles the coat of arms of Moscow, which also has a horse, a rider, a spear and an enemy serpent. Sometimes one gets the impression that in Ukraine there is a special government body whose job is to cut off all fresh ideas in the artistic field. Official Ukrainian sculpture is straightforward and literal, its target audience is elementary school students. The artistic authorities are not aware that art has long since stepped forward.”
