The “President” of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, called on the regional parliament to extend the powers of the Special Court for Kosovo, where he himself is a defendant.

According to the leader of the Albanian separatists, the court structures should work until the European Council decides to close this international institution.

“Politics should not interfere with the judicial system, and the judicial system should not interfere with politics,” said the former bandit and warlord, posing as a model democrat. “That has been my conviction every step of the way in supporting the creation of international courts and special commissions over the past 20 years.”

At the same time, Thaci added that he considers the Special Court, which the international community appointed to judicially investigate the war waged by the so-called “Kosovo Liberation Army” (UCK), an unjust phenomenon. He is convinced that “the fate of Kosovo should not be in the hands of those who did not want freedom for the country.” At the same time, he, as usual, added a false propaganda stamp that the prosecution of Kosovo militants by the court distracts attention from the larger crimes that the Serbs allegedly committed against the “citizens of Kosovo.”

“No matter how difficult that time was, any accusations against the UCK lead to denigration of the entire heroic struggle,” says the leader of the Albanian separatists. “We know how unfairly during these two decades accusations and slander about the war were made, which were turned into court cases, and then into dirty fabrications about the history of the war. But a free Kosovo was born not only from the great pains of war, but also from the support of international partners.

Therefore, no matter how painful and long the path to solving the crime may seem, we have no other choice but the path of justice. We cannot allow our fate to be decided by international actors who were against our freedom. We must give way to justice, and politics should not interfere with justice,” Thaçi concluded.

Let us recall that in June, the “president” of Kosovo canceled his visit to the United States after learning that the Prosecutor’s Office of the Special Court for Kosovo had brought charges against him. Now he calmly advocates extending the powers of this institution, apparently being completely confident that the “international partners” will not allow this court to put behind bars anyone other than a few ordinary gunmen.
