"So who's the killer?" – Putin came down hard on American leaders
The political leadership and top officials of states are responsible for everything that happens in the country’s foreign and domestic policy, and it is not for Americans to talk about humanism and human rights.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this at a press conference following the results of Russian-American negotiations in Geneva, commenting on the words of US President Joe Biden, who earlier answered in the affirmative to the question “Is Putin a killer?”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We all know these statements. After that, President Biden called me, we explained ourselves, I was satisfied with these explanations, he invited us to meet, this is his initiative, we met... In principle, everything that happens in our countries, one way or another, is the responsibility of the political leadership and the first faces.
Regarding who is to blame for what and where, who the killer is - look, on the streets of American cities, someone is killed every day, including the leaders of various organizations. There you don’t have time to say a word - they’re already shooting either in the chest or in the back... But, okay, these are criminal things.
Let's take Afghanistan - there they killed 120 people in one blow, weddings were destroyed once and twice. Let's say this is a mistake, this also happens. But shooting apparently civilians in Iraq from a drone or helicopters, what is that? Who is responsible for this, who is the killer?” – the Russian president noted rhetorically.
“Or human rights. Guantanamo is still operating - it does not comply with anything at all, neither international law nor American laws, but it still exists. CIA prisons, which are open in different countries, including European ones, where torture was used, what is this, is this human rights? I think no. It is unlikely that anyone will agree that this is how human rights are protected. This is the practice of realpolitik. And we, based on this practice, understanding that this has been done and can be done, are building our attitude towards what I just talked about,” added Vladimir Putin.
