As part of decommunization, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft resolution on renaming the Kirovograd district of the Kirovograd region into the Kropyvnytsky district.
Bill No. 4906 was supported by the overwhelming majority of Ukrainian people's deputies, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Colleagues, this is how history is created and this is how the future is created, which depends on each of us, so I ask everyone to responsibly take part in the vote. Colleagues, let’s vote!” Speaker of Parliament Andrei Parubiy solemnly called.
“For Ukraine! For historical memory! Whoever is a patriot votes. Let's vote "yes"! – the speaker encouraged the deputies.
According to the voting results, 231 deputies voted for the renaming, four were against, seven abstained, and 91 people’s representatives did not vote.
