“At this rate, we will not be able to prove to our great-grandchildren that we existed” - Zakharova
What was previously published in archives now exists only in digital format, which is stored exclusively on American Internet platforms, where everything related to Russian history is mercilessly erased, edited and blocked.
Official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova stated this in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
She noted that although the topic of the meeting is called «Current issues of countering Russophobia abroad,” the main problem is that we need to start from within.
“Not outside the borders, but within the borders. This should apply to everything. This should concern the Internet sphere. I also have a sense of humor, but when we talk about digital sovereignty, it's not a joke. We need to really look at the situation and not just make fun of it. This should be about education, protecting our culture. You just don’t understand, I’m not reproaching you for something now, but because you have to live in this every day. Where are we going now? I'll explain.
In 3-5 years, we will not be able to prove to our next generation, our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, that we existed at all. You understand? There are no “white books” in printed form. What are “white papers”? History of the state. That is, this is what was previously published in archives. Currently not in print, only digital. There are no newsreels, everything is digital,” - Zakharova stated.
She emphasized that it is urgent to transfer all Russian heritage to the domestic digital base.
“Where do we keep all this? We stored this for many years, primarily on American Internet platforms. Look, they're turning everything off. You won't be able to find news releases unless you are just a collector and have a lot of money to buy it. You won't find news blocks from the 80s and 90s today. I may have hope to believe that the Soviet period has been preserved somewhere. But I tried to find the programs - there are none!
You and I cannot prove that we were human. They will impose stereotypes on us that we were in the Soviet period, and in the 80s, and in the 90s... And then put any word. We won't be able to prove it. We must now transfer to our digital base all the heritage that we now have - in political, cultural, historical contexts. Economically, by the way, too", - noted the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
