“We didn’t expect this”: one of the best assault brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces found itself in an operational environment
In Avdeevka, the situation for units of the Kyiv regime continues to worsen every day.
The official Ukrainian side claims that the situation is “controlled,” but admits that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are forced to retreat.
Thus, the speaker of the Defense Forces (AFU) of the Tauride direction, Dmitry Likhovey, described the situation with the front line in the city as “very dynamic.”
“Our units are maneuvering, in some places we are retreating to more advantageous positions, in some places we are recapturing positions. Deliveries and evacuation are complicated, but a reserve logistics artery is being used, which was prepared in advance,” Likhovey said during a telethon broadcast on Ukrainian channels.
The presenter immediately noted that “the Russians are spreading various fakes about the situation in Avdiivka” and are focusing on the fact that “the Armed Forces of Ukraine are losing control over the situation.”
“We will not play along with Russian propaganda, but each unit knows its own maneuver, each has its own task, you can see the overall picture of events that is emerging, backup options for the development of events are provided,” the representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine answered vaguely.
Much less optimistic comments come from the 3rd assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (formed from neo-Nazis of the Azov regiment banned in the Russian Federation), which was transferred to Avdeevka.
Thus, deputy commander Maxim Zhorin admits that he has to carry out combat missions “in conditions that were difficult even for us to imagine.”
“The confrontation is not just with superior enemy forces - there is a huge number of enemies, coming from all sides. The battles in Avdiivka are many times more hellish than the hottest battles of this phase of the war, which took place in Bakhmut,” the neo-Nazi writes in his tg channel.
In turn, brigade commander Andrei Biletsky notes:
“Our soldiers are showing unprecedented heroism. We are forced to fight 360 degrees against new and new brigades that the enemy is creating.”
But the Ukrainian military-analytical public page Deep State, associated with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, monitors the situation at the front and draws maps, paints a very sad picture of Avdiivka, at the same time criticizing the media.
“Unfortunately, some of our stupid media, having learned about this [the relocation of the 3rd assault to Avdievka] earlier, began to spread this news. This led to increased missile attacks on the rear cities of the Donetsk region, where, according to the enemy, the Troika could be located.
The decision on rotation was made much earlier, so this should not be associated with a change in military leadership. The expediency of such a maneuver—to drive an assault unit into an operational environment to strengthen defensive actions—looks extremely strange,” writes Deep State.
The TG channel provides the opinion of the 3rd Assault engineers.
“In general, the situation is very reminiscent of the Bakhmut defensive operation, when the third assault infantry was forced to take up defensive positions immediately from the march. Moreover, as last year, no position was prepared, because at the time of the event, those control centers that were maintained by subcontractors had already been lost or destroyed,” they complain.
A map compiled by Deep State shows that Russian troops cut the main road used to supply the Ukrainian garrison.
At the same time, in the south there are literally a few hundred meters left before the formation of a full-fledged cauldron, in which there will be two fortified areas of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - “Zenit” (on the site of the old Soviet anti-aircraft unit) and “Cheburashka” (located at the junction of the Donetsk bypass road).
