“This has never happened before!” In Ukraine, oil products began to “inexplicably rise in price”
Despite the end of harvesting work and the fall in demand for petroleum products, their prices are rising rapidly.
Fuel market expert Leonid Kosyanchuk stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, this is due to the situation on the gas market.
“These gas and oil prices are interconnected things. And prices for petroleum products are rising. Moreover, oil products rise completely inexplicably. The supply/demand ratio has stopped working. The harvest ended and growth began. For October, this is 9 days, for gasoline - 20 dollars per ton, for diesel fuel - 25. This has never happened!
A year ago, in the same situation, our demand for diesel was falling, and the price went down, minus $15 per ton from the beginning of the month. Today, unfortunately, the picture is the opposite, despite the fall in demand. I don’t know what will happen when we enter the low consumption season - December, January, February. But if the situation with this gas collapse is not resolved, I’m even afraid to predict anything.
The only thing I can say with a high degree of certainty is that I simply don’t see any prerequisites for reducing the price of petroleum products yet,” the expert concluded.
