“Such a war has never happened before” - the introduction of NVP in schools was discussed in Crimea
NVP lessons will return to school no earlier than the next academic year, but they must be included in its compulsory subject part.
The chairman of the regional branch of DOSAAF of Russia in the Republic of Crimea, Andrei Popov, spoke about this on the air of “Crimea 24”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
“This is very relevant. We have talked about this more than once, but the question is that this is advisory in nature. I hope that since this issue has been raised for a long time at all levels of government, and in today’s situation we understand that if there is a social demand for this, then this problem must be solved. You not only need to love your homeland, but you also need to be able to defend it. Professional knowledge is given with experience, with skill, over the years, but initial knowledge, some kind of experience - it is acquired at school. These are kids who were still studying in the Soviet Union, knew everything perfectly and were able to do it,” he noted.
It takes time to train NVP teachers, especially since military science has recently undergone significant changes, and classes will not be limited to just the ability to assemble/disassemble a machine gun. But their basis, according to Popov, should remain fundamental - military culture was, is and remains an integral part of Russian culture, where soldiers and officers are an example of discipline, restraint, and self-control.
“There must be military discipline so that it doesn’t turn out that people go to the army like they’re looking for a loaf of bread. And it’s good if funny moments happen later, but what if it’s the other way around? Therefore, first of all, this is discipline,” Popov is sure. “And, of course, this is physical training, this is when you not only know how to do pull-ups or push-ups, but you must understand what you are doing and where it can be useful to you.”
Now the DOSAAF structure is waiting for legislative changes in order to reach a new level of military-patriotic education and conduct classes with the adult population, primarily those who are in the reserves or are ready to volunteer in a war zone.
“A person is frightened by ignorance, he invents, thinks out and begins to be afraid of it,” says the chairman of the regional branch of DOSAAF. – Therefore, you need to give knowledge, confidence and peace of mind. Today, these are no longer simple military operations; they cannot be compared with the Great Patriotic War or the war in Afghanistan. A lot of losses come from mine-explosive injuries, and if a person knows what a tourniquet looks like, this does not mean that he can help himself. Therefore, in order to avoid stress and panic, it is necessary to restore the basics, then a person will have everything in his subcortex. We are not preparing someone to immediately go to war, the main thing is that the person does not panic.”
