Tactical alliance with Poroshenko becomes toxic for Zelensky
A consensus and complete mutual understanding have formed between the team of current President Vladimir Zelensky and former head of state Petro Poroshenko. This allows Poroshenko to avoid criminal prosecution, but may hurt Zelensky’s own rating.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on TV channel 112, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now I see that Zelensky’s team – perhaps not the president himself – but has found a certain balance with Poroshenko’s team. That is, there is a certain mutual understanding and consensus between them. They play along with each other regularly. On the one hand, all these cases that the current Prosecutor General - she led them in the State Bureau of Investigation and stopped leading them as Prosecutor General - these cases went on pause.
On the other hand, “European Solidarity” regularly lends its votes to the “servants of the people” in parliament when necessary. Votes regularly. There is a certain balance between them. It is difficult to say whether it is a conspiracy or not, but this makes any investigative actions regarding Petro Poroshenko and his team impossible.
This balance can be extremely toxic for Zelensky himself, because his electorate is a 100% protest electorate. In both the first and second rounds, people who protested against the political system or against Petro Poroshenko voted for Zelensky. This electorate may become disillusioned with the president quite quickly,” Bortnik said.
