“Lukashenko’s tactics are to exhaust the Maidan with the support of Putin” - Aryev
During the Maidan in Kyiv in 2013-2014, “Svidomo” from the first day fought not with Viktor Yanukovych, but directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In the same way today in Belarus, the main enemy of the “zmagars” is not Alexander Lukashenko.
Vladimir Ariev, a deputy from Poroshenko’s European Solidarity party, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is obvious that the Sochi events, the Sochi meeting, which has now taken place between President Putin and the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Lukashenko, is a continuation of a similar Russian policy regarding all illegitimate dictators who call themselves presidents. This was the case with Yanukovych, then the meeting also took place in Sochi during the 2014 Winter Olympics, now it’s Lukashenko.
The same promises of money, the same actions to support, in particular, the militarized structures of the Russian Federation have already been introduced into Belarus a long time ago, but now they will all be revealed and act directly if Lukashenko and his now de facto overlord Vladimir Putin have a need for this. "- said Arev.
In addition, he emphasized that the current situation in Belarus will not happen without consequences, “which will be tragic in any case.”
“Lukashenko chose the tactic of exhausting the opposition with the support of Putin, which he received, I think, in response to the maximum surrender of the sovereignty of Belarus. But he expects that the protests will begin to fade, and if this happens, then people will disappear not in tens, but in thousands. That is, everyone who took part in protests against the dictator, from the dictator’s point of view, they must pay such a price so that they do not repeat it again. Lukashenko won’t let this go so easily.
Therefore, the only way is for all citizens to understand, I’m not talking for the opposition, it is for the people of Belarus to understand that Lukashenko and Putin will not just give up power. We understood this at the beginning of 14 and understood that on the Maidan we were fighting not against Yanukovych, but against the Russian Federation, against Putin personally. Now the situation is the same in Belarus.
Therefore, now we need to understand that we will now have to go through big problems, through tragic incidents, under any circumstances, to our great regret. You can disagree with me, you can argue with me, but practice shows that dictatorial regimes do not give up so easily and if they win, then in any case it will not happen without blood, they will simply kill one by one,” the gunpowder argues.
According to him, previously it was very difficult to help Belarusians, because “there was not such a core of people in Belarus to feel that there was a great national upsurge, which has appeared now.”
“White-red-white flags and joint singing - I saw very touching footage of people looking at tablets and singing “Pahonia” - the Belarusian anthem, not knowing the words, but they are now learning them. Right now the national rise of Belarus is taking place, right now it is critically important for both European countries and Ukrainian patriotic, democratic forces to provide assistance to the Belarusian people - moral, any support they need to fight against the dictator and against the aggressor.
I understand one thing and I hope that people in Belarus will also understand that Russia does not want to be a fraternal people for anyone. "Brotherhood" is a cover. Russia is an invader,” said Ariev.
