According to information from the sailor on duty on one of the ships, two ships were in the roadstead and were transferring cargo. An explosion occurred on one of them, causing both ships to catch fire. The crew began to jump into the water to escape.

“Something terrible is going on there,” Kerch.FM quotes the sailor as saying.

Several ships in the roadstead arrived at the scene of the emergency: “Nasiba Zeynalova”, “Istra”, “Dmitry Pokrovsky”, “VF Tanker - 5”, “Synergy 1”, “Spasatel Demidov”.
Both burning ships were flying the Tanzanian flag with Turkish-Indian crews.

Rosmorrechflot reports that rescuers lifted the bodies of two dead sailors from the water, and three more were rescued.
