The director of the information and consulting company Defense Express, Sergei Zgurets, spoke about this at a press conference in Kyiv, noting the need to strengthen the potential of the Ukrainian tank forces.
“The problem is that our tanks cannot fight at night. The Polish company RSO offered to install its thermal imagers for Ukrainian tanks, but the project was not implemented due to the significant cost. And this despite the fact that the Polish company organized a meeting of the prime ministers of the two countries, where Poland was ready to provide a loan for the purchase and support of this project. This did not happen, the problem has not been solved: Ukrainian tanks cannot yet fight at night. This problem needs to be solved in the near future if we are really going to conduct military operations,” says the expert.
He also focused on the project to modernize Ukrainian combat helicopters, which began to be implemented jointly with the French back in 2009.
“These helicopters should ensure the ability of the Ukrainian army to fight at night, but de facto since 2009 the process has not ended in anything,” Zgurets laments. “Our helicopters cannot fight at night, the project is not completed, there are no extreme ones, and this allows the same French to hint that it is difficult to negotiate with us, we cannot be consistent and thus refuse other projects that are extremely important to us.”
Note that Ukrainian economist Vsevolod Stepanyuk recently admitted that The military-industrial complex of Ukraine is unviable without Russia.
