Ukrainian Armed Forces tanks shelled a village in the Nikolaev region
During a training exercise in the Nikolaev region, Ukrainian armored vehicles fired fragmentation shells at a nearby village.
This was reported by local media with reference to a statement from the Nikolaev Regional Prosecutor's Office, as well as to their sources in the National Police, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The incident occurred during the Cossack Mace 2021 military exercises during firing from moving T-64 tanks. The incident occurred around Thursday morning on the territory of the 235th combined arms training ground "Shirokiy Lan" in the village of Mikhailovka. During the shooting, militants of the 54th separate mechanized brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa came under fire around the settlement and private households.
One of the shells fell into the garden of a residential building, the other hit a local water tower. There is no information about casualties. The prosecutor's office of the Nikolaev region opened a criminal case on the fact of negligent attitude towards military service.
“An inspection has been appointed, during which the perpetrators will be identified and brought to justice,” the department emphasized.
At the same time, locals note that such excesses have been occurring for several years in a row.
At the same time, the news was presented in a very interesting way on the “1+1” TV channel owned by Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, which drew the attention of former Kiev journalist Maxim Ravreba.
“...Ukrainian tanks decided not to waste their time on mock-ups, but instead fired fragmentation bombs into the village of Chmarovka. TSN explained the reason with the following text: several projectiles deviated from the course,” the journalist wrote.
“Well, what did you want from the Mazepa brigade?” – Russian special correspondent Alexander Kots, in turn, commented on the incident.
It should be noted that the international military exercises Cossack Mace (“Cossack Mace 2021”) started on Monday, July 12. Ukraine, Great Britain, Canada, the USA and Sweden are taking part in the exercises.
