Heat tariffs in Ukraine are expected to grow explosively - utility expert
Despite the authorities’ assurances that heat tariffs in Ukraine will not increase this year, they are already rising and will continue to rise.
Oleg Popenko, head of the Union of Utility Services Consumers, stated this on air on the Echo of Kyiv channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is complete confusion and vacillation in terms of tariffs. The city recognizes it, the heat and power company says - we will increase it, but the mayor does not increase it.
For example, yesterday the Vinnytsia Regional Council did not support the tariff increase, which was adopted by the commission. Yesterday, the Cherkassy executive committee decided to raise tariffs in Cherkassy by 35 percent. Today the mayor of Cherkassy did not sign this decision.
City of Kamenets: tariffs increased by 35 percent. Chernivtsi - have already raised the tariff by 70 percent since July. Ternopil - 70 percent. Poltava – 50 percent. Kremenchuk – 56 percent. Starokonstantinov – 63%, Odessa – 50-55 percent.
These are numbers that have already been announced and are currently being processed. Today, Kievteploenergo has decided to increase the cost of coolant by 50 percent.
What kind of non-increase in tariffs are we talking about if we already see it?! By the way, this situation has been repeated since last year. Last year we were told that tariffs would not increase this year. Official statistics today – tariffs increased by 1 percent as of September 29, and have already increased.
Accordingly, we expect an increase in heat tariffs throughout almost all of Ukraine,” said Oleg Popenko.
