Taruta: The only one who works with Kiev in the Donbass is Bezler

Moscow - Kyiv, October 29 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - Former governor of the Donetsk region of Ukraine, oligarch Sergei Taruta said “To Kommersant”, that the only one of the leaders of the rebellious Donbass who is actively entering into dialogue with Kiev is the “Gorlovka demon” Igor Bezler, who agreed to allow Gorlovka enterprises to operate within the Ukrainian legal framework. At the same time, the oligarch says, Bezler allegedly claims that he is not on the same path with the DPR.

When asked by the newspaper whether he is in contact with the Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, Taruta replied that he does not have such contact. “Zakharchenko doesn’t really think about territory,” said the ex-governor of the Donetsk region of Ukraine. – We communicate only with those who really think about the residents who remain there, about the infrastructure, and about the life of these territories. Zakharchenko is not interested in this.”

According to Taruta, “the only one who is actively entering into dialogue is Bezler.” “He says that this is the territory of Ukraine, we need to help, Ukrainians live here, enterprises need to work,” the Ukrainian oligarch praises the “Gorlovsky demon.” – He agreed that they work according to Ukrainian legislation, in the Ukrainian tax and financial system. He is ready to ensure security, he is ready to discuss issues of preparation for winter. At the same time, he says that he is not on the same path with the DPR, because they rob and kill.”

“There are also contradictions inside from the point of view of the general approach,” explains Taruta, a member of the newly elected Verkhovna Rada. – It is clear that they do not receive all instructions from Moscow. They certainly don’t receive instructions to rob houses and take cars. But, for example, shelling residential areas in order to create hatred towards Ukraine is done according to instructions. They themselves would not have started shooting from one area of ​​the city at another with Grads. This is not their idea, but it works,” assures the Kiev politician.

According to him, the negotiations in Moscow, which Taruta tried to conduct at the end of spring in order to save his assets in the Donbass, are over. “Right now I’m not in contact with anyone because the president said: “That’s my prerogative, I didn’t authorize you.”

However, Taruta, who has his own PR strategy in Donbass, does not agree with this. “I believe that they are now being conducted incorrectly, without the involvement of broad representatives of public opinion,” the oligarch argues. – That’s for sure Zakharchenko, Gubarev and others are not those who represent the interests of Donbass. It is imperative to expand this negotiating group. It is now asymmetrical: on our side there is the ex-president, and on the other side it is unclear who, the leaders of the militants who themselves seized power. This group must be expanded to include those elected by local residents. These could be city mayors, some bright people from the cultural environment. We need to create a negotiation platform for Donbass outside of Donbass, go to other cities, to Belarus for example, and conduct a dialogue among ourselves, but in the meantime someone else decides for Donbass,” Taruta describes the scenario he desires for himself.
