Taruta on Zhebrivsky’s resignation: People don’t just leave such lucrative positions
Pavel Zhebrivsky’s statement about his resignation from the post of head of the Ukrainian military-civil administration of the Donetsk region is evidence of serious disagreements with Petro Poroshenko, or a reluctance to take responsibility for future events.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Sergei Taruta, who himself headed the Donetsk Regional State Administration in 2014, unsuccessfully tried to suppress the Russian Spring on the orders of Kyiv, spoke about this on the NewsOne TV channel.
“That’s why he’s leaving? Nobody just leaves such lucrative positions. There is some purpose. Either he is not satisfied with Bankovaya, or today he is not coping with the elections, because all the governors were given the task of elections.
Maybe he understands that now there will be an aggravation of the situation in Donbass and military needs, and therefore he leaves there.
I know few examples of governors themselves walking away from the fact that they do not agree with a position. When I was persuaded to become governor, I said that I was coming to this position only to try to change the socio-economic situation in a short period of time. At that time I did not yet know that there would be a war. And in October I left because I completely disagreed with the president’s policies, and I believe that he is to blame for the fact that we now have such a number of victims in the Donbass and such an attitude towards displaced people who have left and are not needed by anyone.
That’s why I’m just offended that Zhebrivsky doesn’t tell the truth. Now there are many versions that he is simply transferring and will head the anti-corruption court, but he is a prosecutor, not a judge, because something is not right here.
Another thing is important here: that a person who understands the problems of the Donetsk region and has authority in it be appointed to this position,” said the oligarch expelled from Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Sergei Taruta emphasized that Yuri Grymchak, who is tipped to be Zhebrivsky’s successor, has absolutely no authority in the Donbass.
“A person cannot work effectively without trust, because he must rely on personnel and people, because the task of the governor is socio-economic. What do we see? A huge amount of the administration's money remained unsold. Yes, a lot was done, but even more was promised and not done,” Taruta noted.
