Taruta leaves to save the remains of his business
Kyiv, October 07 (PolitNavigator, Kirill Boyarin) – The resignation of oligarch Sergei Taruta from the post of governor of the Donetsk region, announced by presidential adviser Yuri Lutsenko, is most likely connected with the official’s desire to free himself from government affairs in order to save the remnants of his business empire.
Political scientist Taras Berezovets told PolitNavigator about this.

“It seems to me that there are now few people willing to take the chair of the governor of the Donetsk region. As in the case of Moskal, when it turned out that he himself expressed a desire to take this position, and there were no other applicants. I think the main thing here is Taruta’s desire itself.
The man is tired, this is obvious, especially since it was not possible to control the situation in the region. About half of the region was lost, including the regional center, which will now have to be moved to Mariupol. Plus, Taruta has serious problems with his business - his property was taken away from him in Crimea, he lost part of his business in Donbass, so now he wants to return and save the remnants of his business empire.
I don’t think that any curses from the president will follow him. The man did what he could,” said Taras Berezovets.
Yesterday, Lutsenko said that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko plans to replace Sergei Taruta as head of the Donetsk regional state administration.
As PolitNavigator reported, Taruta previously criticized the adoption of the presidential Law “On a special regime of local self-government in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.”
