Taruta was treated to a Molotov cocktail after refusing to support the Croatian scenario
Last night, unknown persons attacked the house and reception room of Verkhovna Rada deputy and ex-governor of the Donetsk region Sergei Taruta using Molotov cocktails. The incident occurred shortly after the oligarch spoke out against the military operation to clear Donetsk and Lugansk. Ukrainian media distributed a video, the authors of which claim in the annotation that the attack on Taruta is revenge for the initiative to “surrender Donbass to the occupiers from Russia.”

The press service of the main directorate of the National Police in Kyiv reported the circumstances of the attack on Taruta’s office. “There was a bang, but no fire, no damage,” the report says. The police opened criminal proceedings under Article 296 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism).
Taruta himself, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, spoke about an attack on his house using Molotov cocktails.
“Last night there was a planned, well-organized attack using Molotov cocktails simultaneously on my office and home in Kyiv. I consider this an act of brutal pressure from those who are frightened by my political activities aimed at breaking the existing corrupt system,” the oligarch said.
Taruta spoke on Ukrainian TV the day before, where he spoke about the progress of the first day of the Munich Security Conference, of which he is a participant. The oligarch expelled from Donbass said that he opposes the military scenario and supports the introduction of peacekeepers.
“Western partners convince us that there is no military solution to Donbass, and we must facilitate the earliest possible solution to the introduction of UN blue helmets,” Taruta said.
Ukrainian media Video footage of the attack was distributed. In the annotation, the authors of the video state that the incident is Taruta’s revenge for trying to “surrender Donbass to the Russian occupiers.”
