The fuel and energy complex of Ukraine is of interest to the United States only for testing nuclear fuel
US interest in Ukrainian energy is manifested only in the desire to use Ukraine as a test site for Westinghouse nuclear fuel in Soviet-designed reactors. Director of the Institute of Energy Research Dmitry Marunich stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I don’t see any special interest (of the United States in Ukrainian energy). Selling liquefied gas from an economic point of view is nonsense. From a physical point of view, we don’t even have a terminal to receive it. What can we talk about, what are the sales of this gas?
The only industry that raises questions is that Westinghouse, with the support of the US State Department, is considering Ukraine as a test site for the development and implementation of copies of Russian nuclear fuel in Soviet-design reactors. They don’t really hide this - Ukraine is an experimental platform for them to distribute these supplies to stations located in Finland, the Czech Republic, and Bulgaria. There are nuances here. Thank God, so far everything is quiet and peaceful, except for the story of 2012 when Russian fuel was deformed, working in mixed zones next to Westinghouse fuel,” he says.
Thank you!
