Tel Aviv will not finance Kyiv - Israeli intelligence colonel
Despite the active pro-Ukrainian lobby, Israel will not overstep its strategic interests and quarrel with Russia.
A retired Israeli intelligence colonel, former head of the Nativ agency, as well as the ex-ambassador of Israel to Ukraine and Russia, Zvi Magen, stated this on the Internet channel Iton TV, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the West and in Israel there are many adherents of a pro-Ukrainian and anti-Russian course. But this does not change the position. The government is looking at this from the point of view of strategic interests, and not personal sympathies, promises or anything else,” he said.
However, Magen emphasized that, despite the active lobby and the work of diplomats, Israel will not enter into conflict with Russia and will no longer help Ukraine.
“So, yes, the Ukrainians are trying, tried, and throughout this year have been very active in the Israeli sector to get support and weapons to quarrel between Israel and Russia. But so far it’s not working out very well.
If someone expected that some kind of political activity would change interests, this cannot happen. Of course, Israel is not indifferent to the fate of Ukraine, and I would like to do more, but the current government will not go further than what has already been done,” the officer concluded.
