The TV channel of Kuchma’s son-in-law glorifies football pogromists who will throw grenades tomorrow
The ultras, who took an active part in the revolution in Kyiv and later became members of volunteer groups in the Donbass, became “patriots” of Ukraine back in the late 80s. This is stated in the story of the ICTV channel, owned by oligarch Viktor Pinchuk, son-in-law of ex-President Leonid Kuchma.

Thus, for the first time, the Ukrainian flag was raised over the stands of the Kyiv NSC Olimpiyskiy on June 28, 1989 during the farewell match of the famous football player Oleg Blokhin as part of the USSR national team against the World Stars team.
“The yellow-black flag was raised in our sector. We showed thereby that we are different, we are different. There is no need to lump us under one Soviet Union, we have our own flag. Riot policemen rushed in with batons, wearing helmets and indiscriminately began to walk through the sector,” said FC Dynamo ultras Denis Denisov.
According to public figure Bogdana Kostyuk, it was at football stadiums that real Ukrainian patriotism was born, and the future anthem of Ukraine was sung here for the first time.
“They came to the stadiums and supported Ukrainian clubs. It was an identification that “I am Ukrainian.” Some kind of first growth of patriotism was brought up at the stadium,” Kostyuk said.
