TV, bribery and tomos are the pillars of Poroshenko’s presidential campaign

Petro Poroshenko is building his election campaign using traditional methods, as well as bribing voters and appealing to an aggressive minority.

Andrei Zolotarev, head of the Third Sector analytical center, stated this on the Glavnovosti TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Traditionally in Ukrainian politics, the “gentleman’s set” for anyone who wants to try their luck in the fight for the presidential mace was to concentrate their finances and have access to a TV. Today this series is supplemented by a third element – ​​a power resource. Even such parties as Samopomich began to think about creating their own security wing. This factor of strength has become firmly established in Ukrainian politics; we will see it in the presidential and, especially, parliamentary elections.

The fourth factor, which did not exist before, is the formation of networks of bribery of voters for presidential elections. Such work is being carried out and you understand which of the presidential candidates has an overwhelming superiority in all types of electoral resources, except, perhaps, ratings. It is obvious to everyone who is able to do all this.

The slogans “army-mova-vira” and PR around autocephaly are smart steps, but they do not give the desired effect against the backdrop of the failure of socio-economic policy.

“We must pay tribute to the president’s political strategists - in the absolute absence of socio-economic results, the bet is on an active and aggressive minority that is ideologized, indoctrinated and who is for Tomos and “get away from Moscow!” will be ready to forgive Poroshenko all his art with corruption, chatter, lies and hypocrisy. Therefore, this move is quite strong.

But if Poroshenko had at least some visible socio-economic results, then this Poroshenko triad (“mova-army-church”) would have broken through this election campaign and he would have been the leader in it with an overwhelming chance of victory. But, since there are no these results and an increase in tariffs has arrived, and voters are very much in the mood for the Maidan, plus housing and communal services problems become more urgent in the fall, people simply become angrier. People are angry, and a flood of this “tomos is our everything” falls on them, people think that this is some kind of tomosophrenia, the authorities are a little sick.

Therefore, despite the fact that the presidential team managed to carry out a massive campaign to promote autocephaly, so far the expectations that this would increase the president’s ratings have not come true,” he said.
