Temirgaliev recalled how, thanks to “polite people,” Ukraine’s last day in Crimea ended

Simferopol, February 27 (PolitNavigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – Crimean deputies were able to gather for a session after Viktor Yanukovych’s flight from Kyiv only after the armed seizure of the Supreme Council by Russian special forces on February 27.

Former Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea Rustam Temirgaliev writes about this on his Facebook page, recalling the dramatic events of February 26-27.

“The first attempt to hold a session of the Crimean parliament was unsuccessful - there were not enough 8 votes in the hall to reach the required 51, although more than 65 people had previously confirmed the participation. The pressure on the deputies was enormous, mainly from the leaders of the Council of Ministers and the SBU. The speaker announced a break and we began to try to lead our colleagues into the parliament, which was blocked by rallies. The narrow path was a difficult test for the deputies - many were unable to enter the building... Finally, when there was hope for the necessary 51 in the hall, the assault on the Supreme Council began - pro-Russian activists and police were pushed back with the help of gas canisters and batons. Aggressive youths broke into parliament. The second attempt at the session was disrupted…” notes the politician.

On the night of February 26-27, the Russian flag was hoisted over the building of the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

“The third attempt at a session in the already protected parliament building was successful - a new government was formed and preparations for a historic referendum began. It was exactly 1 year ago...” writes Rustam Temirgaliev.
