“Now I’m a riot policeman myself!” – Lukashenko congratulated the police special forces on pacifying the Maidan protesters
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited today the OMON detachment of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He personally presented awards to distinguished fighters and spoke to the personnel.
“Time passed, passions subsided, and people saw with their own eyes who was striving for power. The leading role in organizing street riots is played by foreign puppeteers and their henchmen-collaborators, who have failed to otherwise demonstrate their political significance.
Despite huge financial investments, direct foreign participation in the organization of protests and the preparation of radical elements, the attempt to revive this in our days has actually foundered.
Therefore, the failed zmagars sitting in warm foreign offices continue to invent new intrigues against our state, as they say, for the benefit of the Belarusian people. The good is just not visible. They promised to give Belarusians a happy New Year. Let them try!
Mutiny, blitzkrieg or color revolution did not work. I tell you honestly and openly, and let them hear. If people in uniform had eaten bread in vain, as they say, if we had faltered in those August days, we would have lived in another country. And would we even live and would this country exist? Until the last riot policeman tells me to leave, I will stand firmly in this country next to you, shoulder to shoulder,” Lukashenko said.
By decision of the council of commanders of riot police units, the commander of the Minsk detachment presented Lukashenko with a black beret as the highest insignia.
“You were with us in battle formations, and now you are a full-fledged fighter,” Balaba said.
Lukashenko kissed his beret and indicated to his press secretary: “Emphasize that today I am a riot policeman.”
Thank you!
