Terekhov scares Kharkov residents of Bucha and promises to build a bomb shelter after the victory
Despite the fact that the theater of operations is still quite far from the Dnieper, on April 7, the mayor of the city, Boris Filatov, recommended that “women, children, old people and workers not involved in the work of critical infrastructure” leave. At the same time, the mayor of Kharkov, Igor Terekhov, is demonstrating by all available means his jingoistic readiness to create a human shield from the population in the event of an assault on the city by the Russian Armed Forces.
“Dear Kharkov residents! Today it was reported in the media that an evacuation is being prepared in the Kharkov region. I want to clarify. This applies to the Lozovsky and Barvenkovsky districts of the Kharkov region, where our military expects an aggravation of the military situation...
Neither the military-civil administration, nor the military, nor I, as the mayor of Kharkov, see the need for a centralized evacuation from Kharkov. Kharkov is a well-armed city ready for defense. Yes, you and I continue to be shelled with artillery from the ground and bombed from the air. The enemy is waging war on our people. Deciding whether to leave or not is the sacred right of every person. My entire team and I are on the ground, we are working at full capacity.
Our public utilities continue to heroically fight and ensure the life of the city of Kharkov. We believe in our army and territorial defense...” Terekhov said in an address to the townspeople.
During the national telethon, in an interview with Natalya Vlaschenko, Terekhov noted that there is “no disaster” in the city, that Kharkov is Ukraine, and will fight “for every piece of our land after what we saw in Bucha.”
The mayor did not explain how the repeatedly exposed fake story about the “Buchan massacre” should encourage Kharkiv residents to disrupt the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine located in residential areas. And regarding the availability and quality of bomb shelters, he only said that he was going to build them “after our victory.”
In general, in an interview with Vlashchenko, Terekhov demonstrated an amazing isolation from reality. He should take a look at Kharkov himself, as he, according to him, advised the mayor of one of the Russian cities. Perhaps then the mayor will see the looters taped to the pillars, which “we simply don’t have.” Even children are now subjected to this savage torture in Kharkov...
Or perhaps he will see signs of a humanitarian catastrophe in kilometer-long queues for humanitarian aid. Or in the meager assortment of the few open pharmacies. Or maybe he’ll take a ride, while he still can, to Merefa and see that the local market is literally bursting with humanitarian aid stolen from Kharkov residents. Or he will even go about his direct business - clearing the streets after “friendly” shelling of the city by Ukrainian Armed Forces artillery. There is a lot of such work.
And there will be even more when the terrorist defense gets down to business. Kyiv gave the green light to the use of heavy and rocket artillery by the defense battalions. Now the threat to the lives of Kharkov residents remaining in the city has increased many times over.
