Terrorist Sentsov admitted that Crimea always wanted to go to Russia. Did you plan to blow up for this?
Being a Ukrainian patriot in Crimea has always been very difficult. The vast majority of the peninsula's population has always been non-Ukrainian and supported Russia and the Soviet Union.
Oleg Sentsov, convicted of plotting a terrorist attack in Crimea and released in exchange, stated this in an interview with Lviv propagandist Ostap Drozdov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Sentsov said that he knows very well what the Soviet Union is and therefore has always advocated “independence.”
“In Lviv, in Galicia, it is very easy to be a patriot, because everything lives around you. And in Crimea it is very difficult to be a Ukrainian patriot, because this simply does not exist. There was always Russia, the Soviet Union.
Why has Crimea always voted a lot for the communists? Because people lived with these memories. And this is why later there were communists, the Party of Regions, and now “United Russia”. And this is such a normal evolution, unfortunately, for these people, for the majority, but not for all.
I always considered myself a Ukrainian director, a Ukrainian citizen, although I did not communicate in Ukrainian. But I have always been involved in this state, because I understand very well what the Soviet Union is,” Sentsov said.
Thank you!
