The Washington Post: Russia received the first combat drones from Iran
Iran sent the first armed drones to Russia for use in Ukraine, but the Russian military allegedly encountered numerous glitches in their operation.
The American edition of The Washington Post writes about this.
According to the publication, we are talking about combat drones of at least two types, namely Mohajer-6 and Shahed, designed for firing at radar systems, artillery installations and other military targets. Russian transport planes took off from Iran with return cargo on August 19, WP clarifies.
According to the publication, citing interlocutors close to US intelligence, Russia allegedly encountered numerous malfunctions in the operation of the received UAVs.
As follows from the words of representatives of the American intelligence services, who wished to remain anonymous, after the first tests, the Russian military was allegedly “dissatisfied”, since some Iranian drones allegedly turned out to be unusable. At the same time, the United States believes that Moscow intends to purchase hundreds of such UAVs from Tehran.
It is interesting that Russian political strategist Marat Bashirov drew attention to the fact that yesterday the first charter flight of the Iranian airline Saha Airlines arrived at Sheremetyevo, carrying 90 tons of cargo. “No, not for military purposes,” Bashirov clarifies.
