Tigipko offers Ukraine a U-turn from Russia if Moscow refuses negotiations
Kyiv, April 22 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – If Russia continues to refrain from negotiations with the leadership of Ukraine, official Kyiv must make a U-turn towards the West.
Deputy Sergei Tigipko said this on air on the ICTV channel.
“If Russia does not negotiate, we must admit the fact that the Russian Federation will constantly put pressure on us - and turn towards the EU, open a free trade zone with Canada, Turkey, Israel, and engage in other markets,” the deputy argues.
At the same time, he admitted that enterprises in the Southeast will be able to find a replacement for the Russian market, which is closing for Ukrainian goods, no earlier than in 5-7 years.

“We cannot open new markets quickly. There will be very serious problems for 5-7 years, primarily in the South-East, where the economy will have to be reoriented,” Tigipko said.
He was pessimistic about the prospects for Ukraine's economy in the near future.
“2-3 months, and we will begin to have colossal problems in the economy... we will get a collapse... Fuel, medicine, food, while wages, pensions, social standards are frozen, unemployment begins. The issue with Russia has not been resolved, and there are no new European markets yet,” Tigipko outlined the situation.
