Tikhanovskaya sentenced to 15 years in prison - the borscht cook threatens the judges in response
The Minsk City Court today sentenced the self-proclaimed “President of Belarus” Svetlana Tikhanovskaya in absentia to 15 years in prison. She was also given a fine of $25 thousand, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Another organizer of Belomadan in 2020, Pavel Latushko, was sentenced to 18 years in prison. The remaining defendants received 12 years each. Last week, the prosecution demanded 19 years in prison for Tikhanovskaya and Latushko.
All defendants were found guilty of treason, causing harm to the national security of Belarus, creating and leading an extremist group, conspiracy to seize power, and calls for sanctions.
In response to the verdict, Tikhanovskaya began to threaten prosecutors and judges.
“Let them think better to themselves: because Lukashenko will not defend them in a real independent court, for which Belarusian lawyers have already collected a sufficient amount of evidence. He will only be about himself and his immediate environment. So is it worth exposing ourselves to protect someone who is already condemned to failure,” Tikhanovskaya wrote in her TG channel.
TV journalist Grigory Azarenok draws attention to the fact that all those involved in today's trial fled abroad.
“What can I say? Underpants. As we know, people stand for their beliefs and ideas with their heads held high. They go into fire and into water. If you really support the idea. And these... Ordinary traitors, who did not want any changes for the better in the country and do not feel pain for the people they framed. The only goal is to sell out and sell the Motherland at a higher price,” Azarenok wrote.
