Tikhanovskaya: Zmagars take care of the white and white flags, just as the Kherson waiters hid the Ukrainian ensigns
All Belarusians should be ashamed that the territory of Belarus has turned into “a springboard for an attack on the Ukrainian people.”
The self-proclaimed “President of Belarus” Svetlana Tikhanovskaya stated this at the “Kyiv Security Forum,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I recently read the news and saw a video from liberated Kherson. I saw how people who meet the Ukrainian military take out flags hidden from the occupiers. It was this story that touched me deeply. Every time I see the Ukrainian flag on someone’s balcony in different countries, I see a symbol of the sacrifice of the Ukrainian people, your courage and desire for freedom.
This story reminded me of how hundreds of thousands of Belarusians keep our national flags under sofas or in garages. How they hide literature in the Belarusian language, they hide embroidered shirts. How they preserve love for the homeland, culture, and people from Lukashenko’s regime. For Belarusians, this illegal regime is the same as occupiers.
Dear Ukrainians, I cannot imagine your pain when missiles destroy your homes and kill your children. But I understand your anger when these missiles fly from the territory of Belarus. I and the Belarusian people are ashamed that our home is a springboard for an attack on the Ukrainian people, with whom we have experienced so much, and whom we consider friendly. Everyone responsible for this crime against Ukraine must appear before a tribunal,” Tikhanovskaya said.
