Tymoshenko: Expired medicines are given to Africa for free, but to Ukraine – for money
When purchasing medicines using budget funds, the medicines are not delivered on time and are of poor quality.
Yulia Tymoshenko (Batkivshchyna) stated this at a meeting of the Conciliation Council of faction leaders and chairmen of committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The global financial oligarchy is using Ukraine as a ship without a rudder or sail to make huge money from our misfortune. On one of the TV channels I gave clear figures on how external management of the National Bank is destroying the country. I think the national elite is simply obliged to react to the fact that Ukraine is now simply being destroyed.
I want to give another example. This applies to the purchase of medicines using state budget money. The situation is the same - we are used and killed at the same time. In 2015, UAH 2,2 billion was allocated from the state budget as an advance payment for international procurement. Medicines have been supplied for two years; at this moment, some of the medicines for 2015 have not yet been delivered.
In 2016, these organizations were transferred twice as much - almost 4 billion UAH, and they already said that they would work without corruption. And at this moment another 20% of medications have not been delivered, and this applies to seriously ill people, children. In 2017, they transferred even more money in advance – UAH 6 billion. This is money that could solve the problem with all medications. And no more than half is set for this minute.
And despite such supply figures, they have already prepaid UAH 2018 billion in 18. Five months have passed and not a single ounce of medicine has been delivered. And those that were delivered were almost overdue. They tell us that they buy them at the lowest prices, but the quality of these medicines is zero and they are expired. They give expired medicines to African countries for free,” she said.
