Tymoshenko pours oil into Svidomo’s ears
Yulia Tymoshenko is negotiating with the West about changing the format of negotiations on Donbass with the aim of US participation, including on the agenda an item on the return of Crimea to the control of Ukraine, and is also seeking to obtain new “defense weapons” and provide monetary assistance for the “restoration” of Donetsk and Lugansk in case the hypothetical possibility of renewing their Ukrainian status.
Tymoshenko spoke about this on Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today I am saddened precisely by the fact that the Minsk process, which has been going on for many years, has erased Crimea altogether from its discourse, negotiations, diplomatic settlements, as well as the fact that Mr. Saakashvili highlighted his conversation with the President of Ukraine, in which he said, that he wants to exchange Crimea for joining the EU and NATO.
This position is absolutely treacherous towards Ukraine, our Ukrainians living in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, I believe that this is unacceptable. That is why, from the first days, I do not perceive the Minsk process, because it brought to the negotiating table the “leaders”, but, in fact, terrorists of the LPR/DPR, people who do not hold official positions on the Ukrainian side, including , Viktor Medvedchuk was delegated by Petro Poroshenko there.
I want to ask: “Where is Ukraine?” And when they crossed out the Autonomous Republic of Crimea from the daily agenda and began to create special statuses for Donbass through laws that were adopted in parliament, and for which we did not vote as a party, I then realized that this is a process behind the back of Ukraine, which, in fact, due to her capitulation, he wants to take some incomprehensible diplomatic things similar to peaceful steps.
This is why the Minsk process did not bring peace, and now we need to act differently. I think the first thing to do is to include the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and its return to Ukraine, as it should be, on the agenda of the Minsk negotiation process. And the one who crossed out Crimea on the Ukrainian side must then answer for this as for high treason.
Second, the Budapest format. I also believe that behind Ukraine there are certain agreements that do not support its national interests, when the Budapest Memorandum is the only document that gives us a guarantee from the key countries of the world of the inviolability of our borders and non-aggression against us, it was put aside and is not today, absolutely, a factor in the negotiation processes at the global level to establish peace in Ukraine,” Tymoshenko emphasized.
“We need the Budapest format of negotiations - first. Secondly, we need increased sanctions and pressure on the aggressor country for this format to be successful. It is absolutely necessary to achieve the acquisition of defense weapons, this is important, and I believe that the Budapest Memorandum leads directly to this. Everything must be done to ensure that the international fund for the development and restoration of Donbass, including its resuscitation. I’m already doing all this today,” the politician concluded.
