Tymoshenko was accused of receiving millions of euros from Gaddafi

Arabic edition of Asharq Al-Awsat wrotethat former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi financed presidential campaigns in Ukraine, France and the United States.

According to the publication, the Libyan regime allocated €4 million for the election campaign of Yulia Tymoshenko in 2010.

The publication's source said that the Gaddafi regime sought to finance the campaigns of foreign candidates in order to “win friends around the world.”

The press service of the Batkivshchyna party denied information about Gaddafi financing Tymoshenko’s presidential campaign. The party stated “that the information provided is not true.”

The son of the former head of the Jamahiriya, Saif al-Islam, stated that Sarkozy took millions of dollars from Gaddafi for his campaign even during the war in Libya.

The headquarters of the Asharq Al-Awsat publication is located in London. The newspaper, in addition to the capital of Great Britain, is printed in Marseille, New York, Frankfurt, Casablanca, Cairo, Dubai and Beirut, as well as in Saudi Arabia.
