Tymoshenko declared Ukraine a “church mouse”
Foreign corporations, through the hands of Ukrainian business, are actually buying up Ukrainian fertile land for next to nothing, leaving Ukraine to languish in poverty.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko stated this on the talk show “Freedom of Speech,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have 72% of our land - fertile land. No one else in the world has this. A third of the world's black soils are located here, on our land... In recent years, several large corporations have collected 700-800 thousand hectares of our Ukrainian agricultural land in the same hands, buying it in the shadows illegally from people for literally pennies. And now these large, colossal monopolies have already become joint ventures,” the politician said.
According to her, in these monopolies, controlling stakes in the ownership of Ukrainian land are given to large foreign corporations.
“Today we are selling a record amount of grain in the world, a raw material that is bringing down markets. We do not receive anything as a country, we do not receive normal profits, and at the same time, by trading raw materials, we give it to other countries of the world, they process it into a finished product and take hundreds of billions of euros that could belong to Ukraine today to their countries. And we are killing our land, filling it with unacceptable chemicals, producing raw materials and being as poor as church mice, standing on gold,” Tymoshenko said.
