Tymoshenko was declared the only winner of the first round
Batkivshchyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko, who did not make it into the second round of the presidential election, is betting on the parliamentary elections.
Political strategist Sergei Gaidai stated this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe”.
“It’s a shame for Yulia Vladimirovna. Again, these 2,5% prevented her. They did not allow her to become president when she fought Yanukovych in 2010, and now the same thing has happened. But I personally believe that Yulia Vladimirovna Tymoshenko is the only winner,” Gaidai said.
Explaining his words, he noted that for Tymoshenko “this hell is over,” and she would still have lost to Zelensky in the second round, but now “has not left the political horizon.”
“She still has a direct road to parliament. She can realize all her plans by competing for a seat in the Verkhovna Rada. Moreover, she can still increase her rating. She has her iron 15%, but she can count on the whole 20%. And for the parliamentary party this is a winning percentage,” says the expert.
He is convinced of Zelensky’s victory in the second round, but is nevertheless convinced that “Tymoshenko still remains the strongest player.”
He also denied rumors about an alleged impending alliance between Tymoshenko and Zelensky.
“I think Yulia Tymoshenko understands that the part of the electorate that she was counting on has gone to Zelensky. Yes, Yulia Tymoshenko herself stated that there will be no alliance with Zelensky. And the rumors that Tymoshenko supports Zelensky, which were spread during voting night, are nothing more than rumors,” Gaidai added.
