Tymoshenko demanded that Zelensky immediately resign the leadership of the National Bank and begin a criminal investigation
Despite the fact that the leadership of the National Bank of Ukraine has stolen a colossal amount of money from the state over the past five years, Vladimir Zelensky and his team are not only not going to investigate the thefts, but are also allowing old officials to continue stealing.
The ex-Prime Minister of the country, leader of the Batkivshchyna faction, Yulia Tymoshenko, stated this during an extraordinary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For 6 years now, the National Bank of Ukraine has been a group that has been engaged in highly intellectual corruption, money laundering from the budget of Ukraine, as well as from the resources of the National Bank.
I can tell you that, according to Ukrainian scientists, in 2014-15 the depreciation of the hryvnia by more than three times was artificial, manual, and this triggered inflation of 300% for the next 5 years.
And against the background of this, a financial pyramid was built at the National Bank, which is called “certificates of deposit” - this is the taking away of resources from certain banks, strictly defined, the taking of resources at interest, interest of up to 50% per annum on foreign currency from the resources of national banks.
During the five years of the reign of the previous government, through certificates of deposit and interest on them, more than $14 billion was withdrawn from the Ukrainian banking system and the National Bank for interest paid.
You understand how our country was robbed; specific people, the previous political administration of the country, Gontareva and her inner circle were behind this.
“Then what they do is they extracted money from the Ukrainian economy through certificates of deposit, gave these certificates of deposit at 30-32% per annum, the economy could not afford such interest and be a competitor to the National Bank for attracting financial resources,” she was indignant.
Further, the leader of the Batkivshchyna faction called for the resignation of the leadership of the National Bank and an investigation into the theft of public funds.
“105 banks were destroyed, can you imagine what it is, 450 billion hryvnia were taken from the middle class, offices, cars, equipment, businesses and land.
Tell me, please, where did these 450 billion go? Countless billions were leaked through the deposit insurance fund, they are criminals... The new president who has come must send them all into resignation, investigate their crimes, open criminal cases, and he continues to work with the team that is destroying the economy of Ukraine.
I believe that it is necessary to immediately dismiss the entire leadership of the National Bank, appoint a special national commission of investigation, and save Ukraine and the Ukrainian economy,” the politician demanded.
