Tymoshenko came to the aid of Zelensky
The Batkivshchyna faction proposes to President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky to convene an extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, July 23, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko announced this after a faction meeting on Thursday in Kyiv, the party’s press service notes.
“We appeal to President Zelensky, indeed, according to the regulations, it is impossible to hold an extraordinary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, but it is definitely possible and necessary to hold an extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada, and we propose that the president again appeal to the Rada and announce an extraordinary session on July 23, Tuesday,” the leader said "Fatherland".
She said that within a day the faction would send Zelensky a letter with a proposal to hold an extraordinary session of parliament on July 23.
According to Tymoshenko, the president simply made a legal mistake by proposing to hold an extraordinary meeting, “but he has the opportunity to correct it.”
The leader of Batkivshchyna also reported that the full members of her faction are currently in Kyiv - they specially returned from the regions to the capital when they learned about the president’s initiative to hold an extraordinary meeting of parliament.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator reported, Zelensky had previously appealed to Verkhovna Rada Speaker Parubiy with a request to convene an extraordinary session of parliament, but he refused, citing formal procedural issues. Today Zelensky again asked to convene the Rada to consider his urgent bills..
