Kyiv, September 08 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Yulia Tymoshenko, who remained silent for a long time after her defeat in the presidential elections, is now frightening the country with tragic consequences if Ukraine maintains its neutral status.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, she said this while speaking to her supporters during a meeting where an initiative group to collect the signatures necessary to hold a referendum on Ukraine’s accession to NATO was registered.
The meeting took place on the territory adjacent to the office of the Batkivshchyna party on Turovskaya Street.

“You and I must realize that threats and challenges to life to our state, peace, tranquility, stability of our European course will exist until we decide once and for all: where we are, with whom we are and where is the team with which we we need to move further in the global civilizational space,” Yulia Tymoshenko said in her speech. “We must firmly say that our place is in Western civilization, in the European Union and in a collective security system capable of protecting Ukraine—NATO.”
According to Tymoshenko, the threat to Ukraine also lies in the neutral status currently enshrined in law.
“If we waste time again, don’t make up our minds again and allow someone to leave Ukraine in the gray so-called neutral zone, then not only for ourselves, but for all generations of Ukrainians we will leave the country defenseless,” says the leader of Batkivshchyna.
At the meeting, a referendum question was approved, which reads: “Do you support Ukraine’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as a collective security system?” An initiative group of 500 people was also created to collect signatures in support of the referendum.
It should be noted that the idea of collecting signatures for various plebiscites is not new. Previously, it was repeatedly used by the Party of Regions to mobilize its electorate, promising voters a vote on the status of the Russian language and maintaining non-bloc status.
However, usually after the elections, promises to hold a referendum were not realized under various pretexts.
